In the vast expanse of the American West, there were two herds of animals sharing the same grazing grounds – a herd of cows and a herd of buffalo. One day, ominous clouds gathered on the horizon, and the distant rumble of thunder announced the arrival of an impending storm.
The cows, sensing the approaching tempest, grew uneasy. Their natural instinct was to run away from danger, to flee in the opposite direction of the oncoming storm.
But the buffalo seemed undeterred by the brewing weather. Rather than scattering, they came together, as if guided by a shared ancestral wisdom. They turned to face the storm head-on, displaying a collective understanding that seemed to transcend generations.
As the storm unleashed its fury upon the prairie, the cows, driven by panic, scattered in an attempt to escape. They struggled against the forceful gusts of wind and the relentless rain, making their retreat more difficult. As they retreated, the storm relentlessly advanced.
The buffalo stood their ground without faltering. Then, with determination in their eyes, they ran straight into the storm, embracing the challenge before them. The winds howled, the rain poured, and lightning illuminated the sky. The buffalo, with their sturdy bodies and thick fur, charged through the storm with resilience. They faced the elements head-on, displaying a strength that only grew as they confronted adversity.
When the storm eventually subsided, the aftermath told a tale of two different experiences. The cows, exhausted and scattered, were drenched from hoof to horn. In contrast, the buffaloes, though also wet, stood strong and united. Opting to charge through the storm had alleviated the full weight of the obstacle.
This story of the cows and buffalo is a metaphor for navigating life’s challenges. The cow represents those who evade difficulties. They find themselves worn out and disoriented, trapped in their storm. The buffalo stands as a symbol of resilience and courage, swiftly emerging on the other side.
A timeless reminder that, in the face of life’s storms, it’s not about avoiding challenges but about charging through them with courage.
Some time back, a close friend shared this story with me, and it stuck. Little did I know how significant it would become in the face of recent personal challenges. When major adversity struck, I made a conscious decision not to let it shape my identity or dictate my future—I refused to be a bystander. Although it would have been easy to be consumed by my personal storm, I chose to charge forward and confront the challenge directly.
So, I started Alt-Health with the mission of helping others. My life has always revolved around different aspects of fitness—whether it’s working out, teaching, or coaching. However, in the last two years, I decided to take my own health seriously. Call it a mid-life crisis, call it whatever, but I was tired of being tired, fed up with being sore, and eager to clear the fog from my brain.
After enough research, trial, error, and multiple reformulations on my part, I feel I’ve accomplished my initial objectives. Now I want to share what I know with you. I’m going to continue to research, I’ll continue to try things for myself, and now I’m going to start putting those ideas out for you. My goal with Alt-Health is to provide simple, concise, and objective ways to help you live a healthier life.
Let’s charge at this thing head on, because when it comes to your health, no one is coming to save you. Take control. Take responsibility.
BE THE BUFFALO.
